Halloween Part 1: Identity, and the Deception of the Enemy

When it comes to Halloween, many Christians assume it’s “just for fun”—a night of costumes, candy, and community. But as Apostle John Ramirez warns, this night is far more dangerous than most realize. Having lived as a high-ranking satanist before his dramatic conversion to Christ, Ramirez calls Halloween what it really is: “a satanic holiday.”
He isn’t speaking as a religious alarmist, but as someone who once served the kingdom of darkness. Today, he is often called a modern-day Paul because of the radical transformation God worked in his life—from serving Satan to boldly exposing him. If anyone knows the enemy’s strategies, it’s someone who was once behind enemy lines. Ramirez has testified that Halloween is not just about costumes and candy; it is about identity, access, and spiritual doors.
Identity Under Attack
The Bible teaches that our true identity is found in Christ: “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession” (1 Peter 2:9).
Yet the enemy’s number one goal is to steal and manipulate that identity.
Ramirez explains that when we dress in costumes that mirror darkness—witches, ghouls, vampires—we are symbolically cloaking ourselves in what does not belong to us. Instead of wearing the robe of righteousness Christ has given, we put on the garments of the enemy. Halloween, he says, becomes a night where the lines of identity blur, and Satan gains a foothold.
“Halloween is not just a holiday—it’s an invitation. When you celebrate it, you invite the devil into your home, into your children’s lives, and into your territory,” Ramirez warns.
Why I believe John Ramirez Knows What He’s Talking About
Before encountering Jesus, John Ramirez was deeply entrenched in witchcraft and satanic practices. He participated in rituals, astral projected to curse neighborhoods, and served as a general in the devil’s army. By his own account, he knew the spiritual weight of Halloween because it was one of the most active nights for demonic rituals.
But just like Saul became Paul, God broke into Ramirez’s life. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, his eyes were opened, and now he equips believers worldwide to discern the tactics of the enemy. When Ramirez says Halloween is a spiritual trap, he speaks as a man who has lived both sides of the battlefield.
More Than Costumes and Candy
Many argue that Halloween is innocent fun. Ramirez directly challenges that notion: “It can’t just be ‘just for fun.’ The roots are demonic, and anything tied to those roots bears that fruit.”
Dressing in costumes is not just imagination; it represents spiritual masking.
Trick-or-treating is not just tradition; it originated from practices meant to appease spirits.
Decorating with witches, ghosts, and skeletons isn’t harmless; it glorifies death and darkness rather than the Giver of Life.

When Christians participate—even passively—they open spiritual doors. And those doors, Ramirez insists, are not easily closed.
A Warning to Christian Parents
If you are a parent, ask yourself: Have I unknowingly invited the enemy into my child’s life? Ramirez warns that by letting our children participate, we are giving permission for spiritual influences to access their hearts and identities.
If you’ve been praying for breakthrough—for your marriage, your children, or your home—and haven’t seen it, could it be that you are simultaneously opening the door to the enemy every October 31st?
Why Churches Should Not Celebrate Halloween

Some churches try to “redeem” Halloween with alternatives like “Trunk or Treat” or harvest festivals. Ramirez is clear: “Stop trying to Christianize Halloween. You cannot put Jesus’ name on the devil’s holiday.”
The Word of God gives us no permission to dabble in evil for the sake of tradition:
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11)
“Do not give the devil a foothold.” (Ephesians 4:27)
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
To celebrate what is demonic is to grieve the heart of God and to compromise the identity Christ has secured for us.
A Call to Repentance and Renewal
If you’ve celebrated Halloween in the past, this is not about condemnation—it’s about repentance and freedom. God is gracious, and He longs to reveal the places where compromise has crept in unnoticed.
✨ : Halloween is not just a harmless tradition—it is an identity battle. As John Ramirez reminds us, you cannot serve both light and darkness. This October, choose who you will serve?

🙏 Prayer for Wisdom and Breakthrough🙏
Heavenly Father,I come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. I confess that I have not always seen Halloween for what it is. Forgive me, Lord, for any place I have given the enemy access to my life, my family, or my home through participation in this holiday.
Father, reveal to me the hidden ways this has impacted my children, my identity, and my spiritual walk with You. Strip away any foothold of the enemy. I renounce Halloween and every demonic tie connected to it.
Lord Jesus, I ask for Your wisdom. Show me how to walk in purity, light, and truth. Replace every counterfeit with Your truth. Guide me and my family to celebrate Your goodness in ways that honor You, not the enemy.
Holy Spirit, seal our home with Your presence. Close every door that has been opened to darkness, and restore our identity fully in Christ. I declare that as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15).
In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
